So as most of you know, we're buying a house... and we finally got the clear to close. :) This means that we can announce something *very* important.

We're not going to have our wedding at the chapel we originally indicated. We have about $800 saved at this point... we would need to pay $475 of that to the chapel. We held off on paying it because we were trying to consider our options. Putting together a wedding with $325 is next to impossible, and we are purchased things over time with our own savings (like the fabric for our wedding dresses, the invitations, etc), but it's asking too much with too little to put together the bare minimum of what we'd envisioned.

Our awesome friends donated with their hearts full of love, and it's because of you that we're able to have this in the first place, so we want to do this right. :)

We're going to be having the wedding at our home. It's 1.6 acres of beautiful country land (and we had always wanted an outdoor wedding - we were so disappointed to learn that, at the chapel, we would not be able to wed outside).

After our many heart to hearts, we are so very excited about this development.

(And yes, we lose our $100 deposit on the chapel, unfortunately. :/ This was our own funds - but every penny does count. Ah well. I'm just so looking forward to actually getting to plan everything now that all the details aren't up in the air. :)

Dresses update

Last weekend, Sarah and I went shopping with my mother, and we purchased all of the fabric, zippers, thread, etc. needed for our dresses! Sarah's fabric is a gorgeous, rich burgundy shade, and mine is pale blue (with a gauzy, flowy white fabric for the sleeves/collar). I'm so excited that we were both able to find exactly what we needed, and now the sewing can begin. :)

$90 of that was for web design services and article payments that I received... the rest of it is donations. :O Everyone is awesome. Thank you so much for your generosity, my dears... I have no words to adequately express my gratitude~

We took out $100 of that and sent it in as the down payment for the wedding ceremony... That was Jenn's favorite check *ever* to write. I'm just realizing at this point that we're getting married. I don't think it's *really* going to hit me until the wedding day~ :)

We're currently looking at dress patterns, since Jenn's Mum is going to be sewing both dresses. But... does anyone know of a good place to get fairy wings? I need an autumn themed pair, and Jenn needs a winter themed pair. I've made wings before, but they're not very elaborate, and they're quite small... Has anyone worked with a wing maker before? Can anyone recommend one? :)

More than enough people have poked and prodded me and Jenn for a wedding donate button... I have to say- your kindness honestly overwhelms me. I don't ask for help... or try not to... at every point in my life... And now it's freely given. I have alot to be grateful for.

I'm putting the button in a few places... if you can give and want to, you're awesome. If you can give and don't want to, you're still awesome. If you can't give and want to- you're awesome. I love each and every one of you, and you know I mean it. I don't *care* if you donate money, but will be happy if you do... If you're donating because you feel guilty and sad about things, I don't want you to donate. We'll find a way to make this wedding happen if we get married in jeans, standing in a Wal Mart parking lot... (Though- dear Goddess- anywhere but there!) If you're donating because you like us, then you have the right idea. :) Yay~

So yeah... here you go. The donations go to my Baywolf Studio account- this is the name of my web design business, of which all funds are now going towards the wedding. Also, I'm going to give detailed accounts of where the money goes, so dinna worry aboot that~ :D

Well, I finally got into contact with the director at our local Unitarian Universalist church... she said it might be a good idea to set up the appointment to meet and discuss the wedding after the first of the year. I can't *begin* to express how relieved I am that we're finally going to be able to pin down a date! Yay~! :D

So when we're finally able to sit down and talk to her... I'm thinking of compiling a list of questions. What do you guys think I should ask her? So far, I have these:

How much will it cost?
How long can we rent the space for (on that day)?
Do you allow DJs? Outside music?
Do you mind if we use our own officiant?

I would live in your love as the sea-grasses live in the sea...

Welcome to our wedding journal!

We are Sarah & Jenn (mermaiden & willow_cabin), a lesbian couple who just celebrated our third year of romantic bliss. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of some amazing friends, we will finally be able to exchange vows formally in late September of 2007.

Here, we intend to detail the many preparations involved in planning our wedding ceremony and reception, and we invite all of you to share the journey with us. :)
